Niagara-on-the-Lake has unique planning, heritage, agricultural, tourism, and infrastructure needs. Those priorities should not be diluted within a larger municipal structure.

Any discussion of amalgamation requires detailed knowledge of the interaction between the various levels of government and the nuances of municipal services. This can only be gained through direct experience negotiating with provincial ministers, council representatives from neighbouring communities and a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Municipal Act.
