Development Balanced

Supporting thoughtful growth that reflects our heritage, local character, infrastructure capacity, community input, and the long-term interests of residents.

Growth is inevitable, but it must be managed responsibly. Niagara-on-the-Lake can welcome new investment and housing opportunities while protecting the character, heritage, and quality of life that residents value.

Infrastructure First

Growth must be supported by roads, water, wastewater, drainage, emergency services, parks, and other public infrastructure. Development should not move ahead without a clear understanding of how those needs will be met and funded.

Meaningful Public Input

Residents deserve clear information and genuine opportunities to be heard before major planning decisions are made. Consultation should happen early in the process to influence outcomes, not simply confirm decisions already taken.

Key commitments

  • Link growth decisions to available infrastructure and services
  • Require clear, accessible public communication on major proposals
  • Invest responsibly in the systems that support daily life – water, wastewater, and transportation infrastructure, improved mobility, parking, walkability, recreational amenities
